Knitting 101

If you have never knit before and want to get started, this is the class for you! We will learn the basics – the knit stitch, the purl stitch and how to cast on and off – and talk about different ways of knitting and terminology. A light to medium weight yarn in a light colour and needles to match are recommended – come by Passionknit for suggestions! $30.00 plus materials.*

Intro TO CABLES
Friday, April 20, 6:30-8:30pm
(Two hours total)
Curious about cables but don’t know how to start? We will un-complicate this complex-looking technique so you can add pizzazz with your knits! We will work two standard types of cables, discuss chart and t ext pattern reading, and more! End the class with the beginnings of a classic winter hat! Perfect for knitters who can knit, purl, cast on, and off. You will need aran weight yarn, needles to match and also a cable needle. $30.00 includes pattern; other materials sold separately.*

Intro TO LACE
Friday, April 13, 6:30-8:30pm
(Two hours total)
Learn the art of lace knitting. Like cables it can look quite complicated; together, we will demystify the intricacy of this technique! We will learn to read chart and written patterns and discuss material choices, gauge, lace structure, and shawl construction as we begin the Kiri shawl together. We recommend choosing a fingering weight or heavier yarn – come by Passionknit for suggestions! $30.00 includes pattern; other materials sold separately.

Toe up SOCKS with the magic loop

There are few projects that are quite as versatile as socks – they are wonderfully portable projects and make beautiful gifts. In this class we’ll work through the basics of knitting a toe up sock with an afterthought heel. You will also learn the magic loop technique for knitting in the round, which is my preferred method for sock knitting. Pre-requisite skills: Knit & Purl, K2tog & SSK decreases. Materials: 2.5 mm 32” circular, sock weight yarn.

Knitting Beyond Scarves:
Your First Sweater
